Cylinder Frame Tutorial

Here's what we will be making

You will need PSP 8
Xero - Porcelain
Fun Filters - Patchwork
Instructions:
Select an image that you would like to use and using the eyedropper pick two colours from your image for your foreground and background (One darker, one lighter), then set the foreground to a gold pattern of your choice.
Resize your image to a maximum of 280 pixels in height and sharpen if necessary
Selections/Select all
Effects/Xero/Porcelain (Default settings)
Deselect
Add borders in the following order:
1 pixel darker colour
2 pixels lighter colour
3 pixels white
Select white border and flood fill with the gold pattern
(TIP - When selecting a border to floodfill you can select all and contract by the amount of the border and then invert and floodfill - You will always get a clean line)
Add border 30 pixels in your darker colour, Select border and go to:
Effects/Geometric Effects/Cylinder-Horizontal - Strength 80%
Keep selected and go to:
Effects/Geometric Effects/Cylinder-Vertical- Strength 80%
Deselect
Add borders in the following order:
1 pixel darker colour
2 pixels lighter colour
3 pixels white
Select white border and flood fill with the gold pattern
Add border 30 pixels darker colour
Select border and go to:
Effects/Reflection Effects/Kaleidescope
Image Area:
Horizontal Offset(%): -55
V ertical Offset(%): -30
Rotation Angle: 354
Scale Factor: -50
Kaleidescope Settings:
Number of Petals: 15
Number of Orbits: 2
Radial Suction: 6
Edge Mode:
Reflect Checked
Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Glass
Basic Tab:
Bevel Width (pixels): 11.34
Smoothness: 20
Bevel Placement:
Inside Marquee
Edge Darkening: 3
Gradient Shading: 16
Refraction: 87
Opacity: 0
Tinting: 24
Glass Colour: White

Effects/3D Effects/Inner bevel
Bevel: no 2
Width: 30
Smoothness: 40
Depth: 10
Ambience: 70
Shininess: 40
Colour: White
Angle: 315
Intensity: 40
Elevation: 20
Note:
(Depending on your image, the above inner bevel may be too light, You can adjust the shininess and elevation to suit)
Deselect
Add borders in the following order
1 pixel darker colour
2 pixels lighter colour
3 pixels white
Select white border and flood fill ~~{}with the gold pattern
Add border 30 pixels in your lighter color
Select and go to:
Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds
Width: 3
Opacity: 42
Colour: Black
Effects/3D Effects/Cutout
Offset:
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Attributes:
Opacity: 65
Blur: 20.00
Colour:
Shadow colour: Black
Deselect
Add borders in the following order
1 pixel darker colour
2 pixels lighter colour
3 pixels white
Select white border and flood fill ~~{}with the gold pattern
Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel
Use the Metallic preset
Add a new layer and add your watermark
Merge all and flatten
File/Export/Jpeg Optimizer
Save to assemble in Letter Creator
Background
Using the original image go to:
Effects/Image Effects/Seamless Tiling
Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur Radius 20.00
Repeat Effects/Image Effects/Seamless Tiling using the same settings as before
Effects/Plugins/FunHouse/PatchWork Patch Size 15
Repeat Effects/Image Effects/Seamless Tiling using the same settings as before
Right click on your layer pallette Background layer and promote to layer
Add a new layer and send it to the bottom
Highlight the new layer and Floodfill it with white
Highlight top layer and reduce the opacity to 75% or whatever you think looks good with your image.
Merge all and flatten.

( The outcome of this background varies with your choice of graphic , If you do not get an even seamless tile add this step before the Gaussian Blur.
Effects/Plug ins/Simple Filters /Quick Tile
Repeat the Seamless tile effect once again . This should smooth out the tiling if needed).
File/Export/Jpeg Optimizer
Save to Assemble in Letter Creator.
